The Kahnawake Gaming Commission is a regulatory body that regulates gambling in the Mohawk Territory of Quebec, Canada. The commission was created pursuant to a constitutional amendment passed by the Canadian Parliament in 1992 which recognized the sovereignty of the Mohawk people and their right to self-government.
The commission’s mandate is to ensure that all gambling activities conducted within its jurisdiction comply with provincial and federal laws as well as tribal law. The commission also has responsibility for regulating gaming products and services offered within its jurisdiction, ensuring fair competition, protecting customers from misleading or deceptive advertising practices, investigating complaints concerning gaming matters, and enforcing compliance with regulations.
